HHB is glad to welcome Johan Fourie – Associate professor at Stellenbosch University – as a new HHB Researcher.

Prof. Fourie holds a PhD in Economic History (Utrecht University). His research is aimed at investigating the long-run, structural changes in societies and the factors that cause growth with a continued interest in South African economic history.

He is a coordinator of the Laboratory for the Economics of Africa’s Past (LEAP, Stellenbosch University), founding member of the African Economic History Network and co-editor of the Society’s journal, Economic History of Developing Regions.
